Appeal to the Ukrainian people and the peoples of the world in connection with the 70th anniversary of World War II

Dear compatriots! Dear world community! 70 years ago the price of extraordinary efforts of dozens of nations has to stop the most horrible and most ambitious in the history of mankind armed conflict - the Second World War. Ourthe earth was a bloody scene of fierce fighting. It is on Ukrainian territory held almost half of all strategic defensive and offensive operations of East European theater of operations, it was defeated in Ukraine more than half of the Nazi troops. In the tragedies we have a particularly mournful account of the innumerable human losses.This war, an estimated cost Ukraine from 8 to 10 million lives. Eternal memory to the fallen and light. Ukrainians fought bravely with the enemy in the Red Army, Soviet partisans and underground fighters, regular troops of the anti-Hitler coalition, French, Slovak and other resistance movements. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian patriotsfought in the ranks of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. About 2.5 million of our compatriots fighting and labor feats were awarded orders and medals. For exceptional courage 2,000 of them were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. Three times Hero became famous John Kozhedub, twice Hero - another 32 Ukrainian. The first flag of victory over the Reichstahom established our fellow - Alex Berest. Many immigrants from Ukraine figured prominently in command of the Red Army. One of them was the Hero of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Kuzma Derevyanko, awarded posthumously for their courage, dedication and outstanding achievements in the diplomatic settlement of the post-war international relations. In recognition of outstanding contributionsour people in the victory over Nazism and his great sacrifice was to become a country of law Ukraine - founder of the United Nations. Ukrainian people paid for their freedom high price. Every Ukrainian family has a personal history of the war and post-war reconstruction. It is a story of heroic battles, life in the occupation, evacuationing, concentration camps, Nazi slavery, terror, famine, Stalin's repressions, transmitted from generation to generation, and became the national memory. In the turbulent years of the Second World War, the Nazis and their allies had occupied the entire territory of modern Ukraine, destroyed more than 700 Ukrainian cities, tens of thousands of villages, industrial facilities, cultural and doSupreme attractions.
